Additional Protocols for You to Consider Before Starting Microdosing

Check out my Beginner’s Guide to Microdosing!

Following a “protocol” or a schedule to follow when microdosing is important because it allows you to observe the effects of microdosing on yourself and also helps ward off a tolerance that can naturally build up over time when taking the medicine consecutively.

Most of the protocols follow a schedule to completely abstain from the medicine for at least 2-4 weeks after cycling on.

Below are a few of my favorite micrdosing protocols, and some you might not have heard of:

Staments protocol: You’d cycle on for four days and off for three days OR cycle on for five days and off for two. It’s recommended you cycle off in any given week for at least 1-2 days. This is the ones I’ve done in the past and the 4/3 was the one I found always worked best for me.

Fadiman Protocol: Cycle on for one day, off for two days OR choosing two fixed days in any given week.

Microdosing institutes protocol: Cycle on and off for every other day OR following the “nightcap” protocol which is to cycle on for one evening and then off the next.

Intuitive microdosing protocol: You would intuitively choose which days throughout any given week to be “on” with one exception- you cycle off for at least one day throughout the week.

The 2-days a week protocol: This one looks like the 1st microdosing day falls on fixed day (e.g., Monday. Day two would be a transition day, day three would be a normal day and day four would be a 2nd microdosing day which should fall on a fixed day. So you have two days a week within any given week to be “on”, while the rest of the week you’re off. The goal is to continue this cycle for 4-8 weeks and cycle off for 2-4 weeks.

AE Stack: So this one is my own protocol I’ve made up and I find this works very well for people who may have any kind of dependance, especially with alcohol. After helping people integrate this medicine in their lives and working specifically with people coming off of SSRI’s or addictions to other substances, I have found that those who are trying to fight against addiction benefit more so from having more time “on'' with the medicine- especially in the first 6 months. With that said, this one is similar to the Staments stack but only you stay cycled on for 5 weeks, and are off for three weeks. You would administer the medicine 4 days on throughout the week and off for three. But the time or break taken between your on and off months are less. This I have found work specifically well for people with a dependence on alcohol.

If you stay consistent with your schedule, take care of your mind and body throughout the process, you’ll start to notice the benefits around month two of being on your protocol. Most importantly, take your time, start low and slow and be patient. Track your bio feedback in your body and try to get outside as often as possible.
