3 Small Steps in Consciousness That Lead to BIG Change
I was speaking on motivation the other day in my Instagram stories and I empathized the fact that in order to get motivated, there needs to first be some kind of action taken first and foremost.
Action is what creates motivation.
This got me thinking about change in general and what needs to happen in a person’s mindset in order to make positive changes.
Awareness
The first thing needs to be awareness. This is a big part of the reason why I have clients track macros and calories. Awareness precedes change. It allows you to know what needs to change and gives you the freedom to construct a plan in order to make that happen. Awareness allows you to SEE what you're NOT doing and maybe doing too much of.
Acceptance
After awareness comes acceptance. A lot of people are aware, but only on a subconscious level. They KNOW what they need to do in order to get leaner, but they won't admit it or make the necessary first steps in order to make it happen. Because of this, they'll never change because they're stuck in this acceptance phase.
Here’s the deal: If you want to change your life and move closer towards your goals, you need to recognize the level of effort you’re putting in. Is it enough to elicit the changes in your life you want? If not, you need to accept the fact you need to be doing more. There needs to be a shift in consciousness and acknowledgment. You need to take ownership of what you are allowing (or not allowing) in your life!
Action
This leads me to the final step; action. Action is the foundational key to success. It's what puts things in motion, period! Without it, NOTHING happens. You're at a major standstill without taking action. If you sit around all day waiting to magically become motivated to hit the gym, eat right or go to bed earlier, you’ll be waiting forever. Motivation is not a characteristic trait- it’s a muscle that is built like any other over time. But action is the key which makes that motivation muscle stronger.
There's a big gap between not doing anything at all and being highly successful in your pursuit towards your goals. Becoming aware of your current habits is the first step in bridging this gap. With this knowledge and realization, you’ll be able to execute and take the necessary steps towards making the changes in your life you so desperately want.
