3 Ways I Encourage Clients to Build Trust Around Eating
Listening to your body's natural hunger cues as well as the frequency and volume of how much food you eat are MAJOR key points in building back trust with yourself needed to experience a peaceful and harmonious relationship with food. This takes time but absolutely can be done!
Below I share my top three strategies that I emphasize with my clients to help build their trust back around eating different types of food.
1. Honor your hunger ⠀
Listen to your body and pay attention to your hunger cues. Honor that hunger by eating within 20-30 mins of those initial cues. ⠀
2. Make sure you’re eating enough food
Sit down, slow down and stay present to the meal in front of you. Put your fork down between bites and try to really savor your food. This will give you time to also feel out whether or not you’re still hungry.⠀
3. Make sure you’re eating throughout the entire day! ⠀
Don’t skip meals- that’s when you might become ravenous (or hangry) and either over consume food in one sitting or eat desserts or snacks after your next meal due to missing a meal earlier in the day. Plan out your meals everyday and try to space them apart by 3-4 hours. ⠀
These are just some of the strategies I coach clients coming off of macro counting, reverse dieting or anyone else looking to start an intuitive eating journey. It takes time but learning to TRUST YOURSELF is key to leading a successful intuitive eating journey. ⠀⠀
