Total Body Warm-Ups!
Your warm-ups determine your workouts. There are two main reasons why you should warm-up:
To enhance performance
To prevent injury
Sure, technically you can jump into your workout cold without warming up but the reality is the first half of your workout won’t be as productive due to the lack of blood flow and oxygen to the muscles.
And look, I get it. We’re all short on time and busy. But all you need is 5-10 minutes tops of a warm-up to really make a difference in your performance. My motto is if you’re putting in the time, you might as well make the most of it.
Here are some of my favorite exercises I use to adequately warm-up before my workout:
Glute Bridge
Spiderman
Quadruped Protraction/Retraction
Quadruped Belly Vacuum
These aren’t the only warm-ups I do but I like these particular ones because of their functionality. Keep in mind that whatever you are choosing to focus on that particular day in the gym should be what you are primarily focused on warming up.
