3 Ways to Lose Weight Quickly and Keep it Off
I often get asked about a “quick fix” or tips and tricks to lose weight quickly. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a “quick fix” or magic pill. The answer is hard work, dedication and consistency. However, if you have a big event coming up and want to look your best, these three tips can help in making you look your absolute best in a short amount of time.
1. Reduce your sodium intake
Sodium can bloat the hell out of anyone. It is amazing how much salt is used especially when dining out. Avoid high levels of salt if you know you have a big event coming up as it can cause severe water retention causing you to look more swollen then you really are. Try cooking for yourself more and packing your lunch instead of ordering in. Make a goal to cook at least 2-3x nights a week.
2. Cut back on dairy and fruit from your diet
Dairy and fruit are another source of possible major bloat. Sure, fruit is healthy and certain dairy like cheese and greek yogurt are also deemed relatively healthy. These things can also bloat you if you have it in access so cut it out for a few days and see how you feel. Slowly reintroduce it in moderation. I have found eating fruit earlier in the AM or post workout work best for myself and my clients in reducing bloat and maintaining weight.
3. Avoid booze
Alcohol can cause major water retention due to it’s dehydration effects. Cutting it out will ensure your body running at its most optimal level. Plus, alcohol is really useless calories. The body cannot use it as anything but one glass of wine will set you back 140-160 calories. Keep it all in moderation. If you can cut it out all together, great. You will really do your body, immune system and skin major justice.
