What 2020 Has Taught Me

Grit. Perseverance. Courage....are just some residual traits I believe 2020 forced us to dig deep for.⠀

I tell my clients often that there are no ups without downs, no highs without lows, no wins without losses. ⠀

Life is the same.⠀

I like to remind myself and my clients that it’s the hard that makes us great. It’s the hard that changes us and forces us to level up & adapt. ⠀

I learned at a young age simply that If you can’t adapt, you will die. ⠀

This has been the blueprint of my life. I know it’s the grit that’s made me great. In retrospect, I’m able to look back on my life and know that it was the pain that brought the pleasure and my ultimate evolution to the woman I am today. ⠀

A lot of us lost in 2020. Others more so than others. Some people were low key thriving while others fell somewhere in the middle. ⠀

I think it’s safe to say this year imposed a lot of new challenges for us. I can’t help but try and look for the silver lining after such a tumultuous year. ⠀

And maybe that’s just knowing that we have all changed. I used to be afraid of change until I realized that change is the only constant in this life and completely necessary for growth. ⠀

So yes, 2020 was painful AF. Filled with losses, tears, pain and lots of uncertainty. ⠀

But if you’re reading this, you made it. ⠀

You adapted. You survived. You made sacrifices.⠀

I challenge you to look at change as a necessary stepping stone to the evolution of YOU. Change is never easy and oftentimes it’s inconvenient and uncomfortable. But without it, we’d be complacent, stagnant, uninspired. ⠀

2020 was the year of forced change and I want you to know how damn proud of you I am for coming out the other end- maybe a bit battered & bruised but a stronger, more resilient version of the human you were just twelve months ago. ⠀

Even if you barely survived this year, I want to remind you that that alone is an accomplishment in itself.⠀

That alone, is enough.
