Becoming Hart
As a teenager, my life’s trajectory changed when the cross-country coach caught me smoking cigarettes behind the school. He challenged me to run my fastest mile the next day. Fortunately, not only did I love a challenge, I was fast.
I grew up in a toxic family environment which required me to figure out a lot of things on my own, and when I began running, I found myself feeling confident and independent. As I pushed through physical pain and began winning races, I began to see how a strong mindset might create a new reality for me. Running became everything for me, my only escape.
Not only was I the first in my family to go to college, but I went there on an athletic scholarship. Captain of an NCAA Division I cross-country team by year two, I was the one hyping up the the locker room at dreaded 6am practices. Getting a team of athletes in the right headspace became one of my strengths.
The more I practiced the easier helping others reach their physical and mental goals became. I knew then that this was my life’s calling.
One personal training business and multiple licenses, certifications and various other credentials later, Hart Wellness still focuses on honing in on mind and body connection. I teach that when you work out you’re not just thinking about the ultimate “result,” you’re tuned in to the balance and ease your soul has been craving.
You don’t have to figure any of it out alone.
