How Getting Back in Shape Can Help Make You More Money in Your Career
You dislike exercise, but your career drive is exceptional. Perhaps past fitness levels have declined due to time constraints, age, and stress. Now, you're significantly overweight, lack time for consistent gym workouts, and need guidance on lifestyle changes.Fear not! If you are someone lacking motivation and time, don’t worry, you’re not alone!
The good news is positive changes in your body can come from adjustments to your diet at first. I always tell my clients, you can't out train a bad diet. No matter how hard you workout in the gym. If you do not adjust what you eating, you won’t see the desired changes you want.
If you literally don’t have the time to hit the gym, focus on your diet first to jumpstart your weight loss. Simple weight loss solutions are:
Cooking at home
Cutting back on booze
Tracking macros/food. (I love My Fitness Pal)
Cutting back on sugary drinks/soda/juice
Practicing portion control
Weighing your food
Hiring a coach
It starts with adjusting habits first. I am a big believer in tracking your macros at least for a month so you can actually see how many sugars, carbs and fats you could be consuming from your innocent routine morning run to Starbucks. They say ignorance is bliss but when it comes to reaching a desired weight goal, you can’t be in the dark with what foods you are consuming regularly. Our everyday habits shape the outcome of our reality and it starts with awareness!
Once you start to see changes in your body and begin to actually feel good, you’ll make working out more of a priority because of the feelings that go along with these positive changes. It will feel like a drug. The feelings become so powerful and exhilarating you won't want them to stop. This is a real thing believe it or not and it often happens to people when they begin their weight loss journey. It’s known as the positive feedback loop.
The positive feedback loop starts when people you see everyday start paying you compliments and notice the changes in how you look. Suddenly you feel confident and more motivated than ever. This confidence spills over into every aspect of your life- including family, relationships, money and work. When you decide you are going to go for something and truly give it your all, you are bound to make changes.
Once we begin to see and feel these changes, we feel empowered. Confident. Happy. Alive.
“The cute blonde who sits a few cubicles down from me said good morning to me today and told me how great I look!”
Suddenly, you are king shit. You may not actually be king shit but you feel like it. That confidence, motivation and empowerment literally spills over into every aspect of your life. I have had clients who often start working out and within months make HUGE life changes they’ve been sitting on for years. Selling their homes, asking for that raise, asking that guy/girl out on a date, ditching the toxic people in their lives, you name it! Suddenly you have more energy then you have had in years and a new found confidence you forgot you had. And often, you are killing it at work more than ever before.
This is true because I have seen it with the clients I have worked with. Not only do you feel physically different, but mentally more clear as well. The reason for this is because quality of sleep is usually better when you exercise and eat well on a consistent basis. Working out as we know increases natural endorphins which give us that natural “high” and make us feel happy. Increased blood flow to the body means increased blood flow to the brain. So not only will you be feeling better physically but mentally you’ll also be feeling more sharp than you’ve felt in months or possibly even years.
So what are you waiting for?
What’s holding YOU back?
Again if it’s lack of time or a down right hate you have for the gym, then don’t start there. Start with your diet and making the necessary adjustments to your lifestyle in order to see those initial positive changes. Choose one method of change and stick to it. Once you start feeling a difference, you’ll start seeing a difference. Before you know it, you’ll feel on top of the world and pretty damn unstoppable. Cut the excuses and squash the doubts. Don’t think or dwell on the things that could go wrong. Instead focus on all the things that can go RIGHT. Remember, you got this.
